ive goten a little interested in rock climbing recently after going the other day, i think its a really good way to excercise now that i dont do as much competative sports. ive been particular interested in an aspect of rock climbing called bouldering, which is more more strength and move based. looked it up on utube and found this video, these dudes are rediculous.

Wu-tang forever mothafucka's

wu-tang recently released their new album 8-diagrams, i havent goten a chance to thoroughly check it out, but ive listened to a few of the songs and previewed a few others and it sounds pretty tight. below is an interview with wu-tang about the making of the album, there are some real classic method lines in there if u have the patience to watch the whole thing. If not at least check out the second video, which is one of the new songs off the album called "take it back" its the least you can do for the greatest rap group of all time. The song really sounds like classis wu-tang.

just a new pair of runners set to release spring 2008. A few other colorways should be releasing soon as well, hopefully a few not quite so retro. I think this may be on my wishlist come end of winter. It kinda of reminds me of an air max 180 crossed with an air stab. Kinda reminds me of a sweet shoe mixed with a sweet shoe.

interpretor

just wanted to let everyone know that today i realized i could finally somewhat understand my asain physics teacher. I think after 2 semesters of chemistry, 3 semesters of calc, and now a half a semester of physics, ive finally learned to comprehend asain accents. I think techniquelly im through the equivalent of chinese 2. Uconn should give me language credits for taking all these freakin math related classes.

oh yeah right.....almost forgot....im leaving tonight for florida. Our club team has finnished pretty strong this year with a final record of 10-3-2 including our tournament losses at regionals. our only losses this year came against umass (2) and rutgers in teh regional tournament. We upset brown and BC, big rivals of ours, and beat a yale team we havent beaten since the club team was created. Overall a pretty solid year. Im looking forward to seeing how we stack up nationally this year, i like our chances to get outa group play this year, because nationals really bring the best out in us. Hopefully everyone is feeling healthy as injuries have plagued us the past few weeks. Wicked pumped for the trip, in part because i feel like i play very well under pressure in net. Sometimes i feel like pressure packed games can get the best of me playing on the field at times in certain sports, but for some reason i really enjoy the pressure in net, i feel like it keeps meet at peak focus the entire game. I really feel like i stop thinking and just react. plus i get a sweet trip to warm ass florida for a 100 bucks.

" Heima-which translates as both "At Home" and "Homeland"-- chronicles a series of free concerts Sigur Rós played in their native Iceland over the course of summer 2006. Combining both the biggest and smallest shows of their career, the entire tour was filmed, and now provides a unique insight into one of the world's most fascinating and inscrutable bands captured live while exploring their natural habitat like never before. The film is currently being edited by Nick Fenton with direction from the Oscar-nominated Dean DeBlois.

The culmination of more than a year spent promoting their hugely successful Takk... album around the world, the Icelandic tour was free to all-comers and went largely unannounced. Playing in deserted fish factories, outsider art follies, far-flung community halls, sylvan fields, darkened caves and the huge horseshoe-shaped Asbyrgi canyon (formed, legend has it, by the hoofprint of Odin's six-legged horse Sleipnir), the band reached an entirely new spectrum of the Icelandic population; young and old, ardent and merely quizzical, entirely by word-of-mouth.

Material from all four of the band's albums is featured, including many rare and notable moments. Among these are a heart-stopping rendition of the previously unreleased 'Guitardjamm', filmed inside a derelict herring oil tank in the far West Fjords; a windblown, one-mic recording of 'Vaka', shot at a dam protest camp subsequently drowned by rising water; and first time acoustic versions of such rare live beauties as 'Staralfur', 'Agaetis Byrjun' and 'Von'. "

I thought this was a pretty sick idea, from a pretty cool and very unique band. not the type of music your really gonna party to but some good music if your just chillen surfin the net, or relaxing and blazin. Check the trailer out here...

Drogba Wants Out

i was already shocked by the departure of Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, but today i read some news that really knocked my socks off. Didier Drogba has demanded a trade. Im not gonna go into details because the following article is short and sums its all up pretty well so i suggest jsut reading it for yourself. If you know anything about soccer you realize this is like the lakers trading Kobe Bryant for Europeans. Drogba is arguably the most talented striker going right now, and he has many years to come. Hes strong, fast, determined, confident, and skilled, basically hes like an african god. Whatever team lands him (Barcelona, Real madrid, AC Milan, Inter Milan) is going to be in serious position to steal the champions league. It would be especially interesting to see him split time with henry and eto'o at barcelona, making one of the most rediculous striker combos of all time. However id probbaly most like to see him go to AC Milan and play with Kaka, the clear choice for world player of the year, because they are my favorite team of the bunch. If he goes to Inter, ill prolly kill myself, seeing thats puffs favorite team, and seeing the look on his face when he hears that drogba moved there will kill me because i dislike inter so much. Just knowing an inter fan is happy will make me want to scratch my nails on a chalk board. If your not familiar with Drogba check out the video below. the link below is the article.

Foozeball

I saw some highlights of minnisota rookie running back adrian peterson this weekend after he stomped all over the bears, and i was completely blown away by his talent. Ive never see a running back with the combination of speed, awareness, and pure will to stay on his feet as peterson. This kid is gonna be sick. What really makes me like him is the fact it looks like he is running with attitude, like hes running as hard as he can on every single play. Its that desire that makes him a threat to score a touchdown on every play. Watch him make what was considered a very good bears defense, especially run defense, look absolutely silly.

nike is doin work

some sick ass new realeases from nike. The first is a nike/Huf colloaboration, huf and nike always seem to put out some tight shit. A nice earthquake style print on the black air max 1's, and the lime green accents stand out nice. Plus you cant go wrong with gum soles. The second is a new dunk low released as a collobo with japanese artist Takashi Hasakawa. Pretty simple silver and black, but the laser on the heal is a real nice touch. the third is a dunk high, its modeled after a skate deck appearantly, not seeing a huge resemblence but i dont know that much about skateboarding really, all i know is the colors are nice and the pattern on the heal mixes it up a little. The last is a air max 90 from the same Hufmax pack the air max 1's is from. Not really my style, but the earthquake print is hot these days, and everyone loves blue.

Free will

the other day in physiological psych my teacher began the introduction to the class with a very interesting discussion on our opinions on three assumptions. the first assumption was evolution vs creationism. he proclaimed that only if we agreed that evolution was true, it would make sense to study physiological psych, because in physiological psych they do lots of studies on animal brains and relate the information to human brains suggesting we all stemmed from the same original living organism. I had heard all this before but he soon moved into assumption 2 which i considered to be more interesting; determinism vs free will. this i found a little more complicated than the first. determinism suggests that everything we do was based on a casual event. In other words we never completely choose to do something, we are always persuaded by past experiences/environmental factors/ our personalities. He then suggested that if you beleive this than does it not make sense to say that if everything is caused by something else, then if we had a hypothetical super computer that could take into account every moving atom and every causal effect we could succesfully predict the future, predict your every move, because u only moved that way because of some long chain of events leading to that point. As much as i beleive this is hypothetically true, its so hard to accept the fact that i have no free wil, in other words i never completely make a choice based on only the here and now, i am always affected by something, i am only a product of environment. My teacher suggested my brain is nothing more than a set of mixing chemicals reacting, something that is a little hard to swallow. As people we always want to beleive that we are something more than just atoms just put together reacting to environment, that we have higher thought processes that allow us to make choices free from influence, however im not completely convinced its true. This also means that the world must be completely predetermined, predetermined from the first cause of events that created the world, just a chain of events leading us in the direction it always will. However, this too may not be completely true. There is the idea of emergent properties, wich are properties that are created when things mix that werent properties of the two things that made them up. for example, when hydrogen and oxygen mix they create water, wich isnt a gas, and has properties of a liquid such as surface tension. In other word a whole is greater than jsut the sum of its parts. This means that our brains could be capable of doing things that cant be defined by just chemicals and effects of our environments. This idea puts me at ease for now.
so i havent really posted much since school started. Ive been a little busy but for the most part i just havent posted because so much stuff has been goign on recently that nothing ever really stands out as important to post. I figured id post these pretty dope air max1's i spotted on www.highsnobiety.com because of their back to school theme. I havent been all that impressed with alot of the air max releases recently, but i thought these were pretty unique. Along with these is another air max 1 thats very similar and an air max 90 that looks alright. They are also releasing a back pack to go with the shoes keeping with the whole back to school motif. Im pretty interested in the backpack, and if i spot it ill be sure to post. some more stupid shit on its way soon.

Manufactured Landscapes

last night i saw this film with chuck called manufactured landscapes. its basically a documentary that shows still frame pictures and videos of man made landscapes such as oil rigs, coal mines, dams, and junkyards. Although at times the documentary failed to keep me interested, there were some really breathtaking shots, and some very attention grabbing information, especially towards the second half of the film, which focused on China's extreme industrialization in the past few years. there was one shot of some coal mines that really blew my mind, it was just open black hills of coal for miles, as far as u could see. One of the most shocking things in the film was the part that covered the three gorges dam in china. its the biggest dam in the word, 5 times bigger than the hoover dam and has enough steel in it to build 63 eiffel towers, so big in fact, that its going to tilt the world off its normal axis, and cause a wobble in our earths rotation. I cant help but to think what kind of effects this is going to have on our lives. if it changes our rotation, could it not then cause changes in weather patterns? seasons? or any other number of things. I dont understand how things like this get cleared by our governments. How they think its a good idea to sacrifice our natural environment for the sake of China becoming an industrial superpower ill never know. Our lives are so reliant upon the natural world around us ( weather, drinking water, farming land ect...) that i dont understand why we care so little about it. The three gorges dam displaced over 1,100,000 people unwillingly from their homes. On top of that, they had the gaul to ask these same people to tear down their own homes and cities so that once the dam filled their cities with water, boats would be able to pass through. The purpose of the dams is to put 26 generators in, in order to provide the energy needed to continue building China's industrial economy. the documentary really makes you realize that if earth is one giant organism, then we are the cancer, and our smogging, polution causing mega-plants, are the tumor. Here is a short clip about the film maker Edward Burtynsky, with some shots of his film, and a short explanation by him. If you dont see the film, the clip is definitely worth watching.

attraction

after having a quick conversation last night about wheather or not i found a certain girl attractive i began to really think about what makes people sexually appealing to others. after doing a quick search i came across this article that i found somewhat interesting. I realize its 8 pages long and so therefore probably no one will read it, so i figure ill give a quick overview. it basically talks about how there are certain behaviours that are connected to flirting in men and women that can be found cross culture, and across the animal kingdom. The article suggests that certain behaviours are biologically embedded in our psyche as behaviours that will attract the opposite sex, such as eye contact or certain postures. It also covers certain characterstics that make people physically look attactive to the opposite sex. The article suggests that averagness and symmetry are two very important factors in your attractiveness to the opposite sex. kind of a strange article i guess, just something i found sort of interesting cause im a bio nerd.

Canada and other such things

so this is the first chance ive had to make a post since leaving for canada last saturday. This past week has just been too wild to explain. i had originally planned on writing about all the things that happened this past week, but theres just been too much going on to really fully explain. Before the trip i was a little worried about the crew that was going, considerign i am only really good friends with three of the kids who went. In a way im kinda glad thats the way it turned out though, it was fun getting closer to some of the other guys on the trip, though im still kidna disapointed zak and brett wussed out on the trip, cause i would have liked to have some good times before they leave for cali again. Montreal is a great place to party, if uve never been i suggest u get there as soon as possible. right after we left canada we took a trip down to the beach to chill some more which was also a great time, although i felt the mood at times was kinda low, we managed to turn it up to party at night. I think everyone is starting to get pretty beat from the long week, non of us have really stopped partying since montreal. it may sound cheesy, but i kinda feel like the attitude of the whole week has changed my outlook on certain things in life, hopefully for the better. i might have more to say about this trip later as i have more time to think things over. if i give the whole trip to you at once it might blow your mind. So instead watch this movie, it will blow your mind slightly less. i realize the video is long, it about a two hour movie, but its really an interesting piece, possibly a real eye opener for many. it covers things like religion, 911, and other politics.....much more interesting than it sounds, if you have any free time definitely check it out.

Mayday! Mayday!

just thinking about how sick it would be to go to warped tour this thursday, havent really talked to anyone about serious plans on going though. if i went id def have to check out this British hardcore band ive been into recently the GALLOWS. one of the most badass bands ive listened to in a while. front man Frank Carter is a wild man at live shows from what ive heard/seen on youtube. He really knows how to bring that old school punk energy to their hardcore shows letting the crowd get really involved. Check out their video for their single abandon ship below. the video is actually put together from clips of an actual live show, and trust me, they rock out this hard or harder at pretty much all their shows, i definitely wanna check them out live some time soon. if your at all interested download the song orchestra of wolves, despite the intense lyrics, it gets me pumped with ease.

RJD2

i gained new respect for musical artist RJD2 after watching this video. he plays a few of his beats live with a band, featuring himself on the guitar, as well as mixing a few of his beats by himself. the stuff he does on the synth pad at the end i thought was pretty sick, ive never seen a live musical act quite like it. ive really been getting into listening to some of his beats off the albums deadringer, and since we last spoke while chillen. im really looking forward to getting a hold of his new album the third hand. if anyone can help me snag that let me know.

once again

after being inspired by shea's blog page(which ive greatfully posted as a link), ive decided that having a place to post some thoughts/ideas/sweet shit i find amusing on the internet is something id like to start up again. i still kinda regret abandoning my live journal page, letting it just wander the vast nothingness of the internet forever. However i think my blogspot will be way cooler, so ive adopted this page, and have come to terms with the fact that all my old posts are floating around in mega space never to be seen again. im hoping that i can keep this blog page as legit as possible, and hopefully a lil less homo-fag than a journal. Blog's are way more manly. first posts are always tricky.
